Hull's Meeting Venues Showcased to National Business Events Leaders

A delegation of senior events industry representatives visited Hull today to learn about the city’s growing success in attracting business visits and events to the region.

Members of the events industry’s Business Visits & Events Partnership were given an overview of how Hull’s year as City of Culture has impacted on the opportunity to bring business events to the region, as well as hearing about the city’s existing and developing meetings and events venues. The delegation also enjoyed a tour of unique business and cultural venues including Hull Truck Theatre, the new state-of-the-art Hull Venue for concerts and conferences, Stage@the Dock at Hull Marina and the Business Centre at the Deep.

Chair of the Business Visits & Events Partnership, Michael Hirst OBE said:

“This visit by the leading representatives of the major UK event trade associations will enable a greater understanding of how Hull’s year as City of Culture has contributed to making the destination a more attractive place for attracting and staging major business and leisure events. The legacy of a convention venue facility added to the success of the festival events already staged, will undoubtedly keep Hull on the list of key destinations within Britain for hosting future major conferences, exhibitions and cultural events. We are very grateful for the city’s hospitality and will be doing our best to spread the word about Hull as a great city for staging business visits and events”.

Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism, Cllr Terry Geraghty said:

"It's fantastic to have leaders from the events industry here to experience the fantastic offer we have in Hull. Drawing in large-scale conferences and events to the city is a key part of our legacy plans and with projects like Hull Venue well on the way to completion, it is visits like this that will help to establish us as a top venue for businesses and organisations in the future."
