The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) has announced the re-appointment of Chris Skeith (pictured left) and Simon Hughes (pictured right) as Vice-Chairs for a further two-year term.
Chris Skeith will continue as BVEP Treasurer and Simon Hughes will continue to lead on BVEP’s co-ordination of issues arising from Britain’s eventual exit from the EU.
Welcoming the re-appointments, BVEP Chair Michael Hirst OBE said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Chris and Simon back for another two years. Both have played a major role in helping the BVEP to develop policies that promote the best interests of the events industry. As the government continues to grows its appreciation of the role events play in showcasing Britain and securing international trade opportunities, their continued contribution to the work of the partnership will be invaluable.”
Chris Skeith, CEO at the Association of Event Organisers, said:
“I’m delighted to continue in my role as BVEP Vice-Chair in these exciting and challenging times for the industry. The partnership has made great progress in putting business events on the national agenda and I’m looking forward to making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead. We’ve come a long way but, as ever, there’s still a lot to do”.
Simon Hughes, Founder of MCH Associates, said:
“Brexit means that it is now even more important than ever to make sure the industry’s voice is heard. BVEP has a pivotal role to play in continuing to focus on the issues and opportunities that the people who work in our sector can bring to promoting UK plc. I’m very pleased to be part of this small but dynamic and influential team.”
Chris and Simon join Samme Allen and Caroline Jackson who continue in their roles as Vice Chairs of BVEP.

The Business Visits & Events Partnership is an umbrella organisation representing leading trade and professional organisations, government agencies and other significant influencers in the business visits and events sector.
The BVEP exists to:
- garner the cohesive opinion of these stakeholders and to collectively influence and develop policies, practices and strategies that support and generate growth in the sector
- raise sector awareness through clear communications of the social and economic benefits of the business visits and events sector.
